25th July 2022

Despite the heat, averaging 35⁰C this week, we are getting some great produce from the vegetables least affected by the sun.
Peppers we have none from any of the 12 good plants....but we have red beans and courgettes, tomatoes, basil and aubergines aplenty.

23rd July 2022

Aubergine season has really started.
I am using these to make a conserve.
Cut and boiled in cider vinegar, then put into jars and covered with olive oil.
A few leaves of tarragon and chillies added too !

A narrow boarded bee moth
Much like the hummingbird moth, but with striking colours.

21st July 2022

First supercrop of tomatoes for the freezer.

6 new containers to join the 15 left from last year...which is just as well, as due to drought conditions the tomato plants this year are only half as tall...

20th July 2022

We say au revoir to Mike and Sarah, its been a great week, a bit warm with temperature averaging 35⁰🥵 but very enjoyable especially the monopoly deal!
À bientôt.

Mike and Dave managed to repair the top of the BBQ which the mosaic tiles had slid off the metal top, when it was propped up, then they sealed it with PVA, unfortunately it was far too hot to have a BBQ on it.

17th July 2022

Cooling off in the pool.
Temperatures have been an average of around 35⁰C each day for about 3 weeks now!
After cooling us this water will go onto the garden...nothing wasted in this heat.

Thank goodness for excellent company, great aircon and magnificent monopoly deal!

16th July 2022

The top from our round bbq is a cemented and marble tile job. Kindly left to us by Bernie and Rob.
We used it once, took off the round top, and proped it up. Next morning the tiles had slid off the metal top 😱.
So a solution was (hopefully) found to glue it back on with tile adhesive.
In the temperature today of 35⁰C it was deemed better to attempt this feat inside!
So the boys started and an hour later it was done.

tile adhesive application.
which one goes where?
nearly there...
finished!

15th July 2022 Mike's Birthday

Mike's Birthday!

Surveying the mountains, whilst
temperatures soar to 38⁰C 😎

Actually too hot to sit outside at Le Moulin for long, so after apéro we go inside to cool down.
Mike blowing out his candles, again, and again and again...
A great meal as usual, a good time was had by all.

Later we paddle, fish (with a net) and are joined by Raphy the Owners adorable doggy.

Mike and Dave stroll up stream to sus out the skimming potential!

Back at Cailho, Dave is the first to test out the pool...

Followed by the birthday boy!

One of our first tomatoes.

This one has aspirations of being a polo mint!

I think two grew together, as when I picked it, there was leaves right through the centre.

Weird 🤦🏻🤡

In a local charity shop, I bought this bowl.....just like my mother had, same make I guess. Unfortunately there is some damage to the interior...but its a wonderful memory.😁

To celebrate the near end of the wall , we went to Le Yucca in Lamalou , tasty pizza, as you can see!

4th July 2022

Work begins on the final wall build.
After Dave injured his back , we have called on Nicks services to help with the heavy stuff.

As its about 33⁰C today shade is needed.

Cement going in behind the wall.

Dave praying (not really)
Its necessary to wet down the cement after finishing to prevent it cracking too much.

I knew we bought the camper for a reason...to shade the wall...bien sûr!

From a slightly different angle.
