30th May 2025... Jardin d'eau

We we're not allowed to picnic in Jardin de Valombreuse, so we drove down the road to here...only a few minutes away.

Explored the garden

A very small Bread fruit tree
A fruit?
It's flower !
An ants nest....note the tunnels going up the tree, presumably to protect them from predators?
Butterfly

A hummingbird at rest...

Fuzzy plant
In flower as well as buds.

Waterlilies

A green and blue lizard

Very short video of ants....

29th May 2025...Widy Gregos Day!

Widy Gregos is the Vegan restaurant we discovered last year... Nestling in a forest of trees of all kinds, your vegan meal is presented in wooden bowls/plates , whilst you sit at a table outside, under an umbrella and banana, cherry and jungle trees of all sorts.

This tree is actually behind our apartment. It's a fire tree with massive pods, which drop noisily in the night!

Widy Gregos
Entrée is Gratin
 of Christophine

The main had 8-10 little "bites" of taste, the waiter informed us of everything that was on the plate....now I have no idea...but it was Deee.Licious 😋 😋 😋

Behind us ants busily transported cut leaves back and forth....one in centre of this picture.

This notice at the side of the road, points you to a path (where I am!) which leads to the restaurant behind the house...through a jungle, on stepping stones.
Yet another MANGO tree!

28th May 2025.....A trip to Point des Chateaux

Normally stacks of leaves don't travel along the road!

Ripe for development?
Our first real look at
Point des Chateaux
Some of the beaches have been Sargassum-ed !

Sea purslane, planted to stabilise the sand.
Dave climbed the rock!
More plants...

28th May 2025... Lunch at a food truck..and home beach.

Looks a little bit stormy...but no rain
Our company for lunch two cows and 2 calves.
View of coconut palms...and piles of rotting Sargassum.
Although the piles of dead algae were not far from us, there was hardly a smell...it was probably all very dry.
This digger driver fortunately went on his lunch break just as we tucked into our lovely Poke Bowls...
Veggie for me,
chicken for Dave.
Sargassum floating just off the beach
Chicken and her brood.
Little blue Heron in flight
Plage de Petite Harve at dusk
Looking back up to our accommodation.
