14th July 2026...Fire across the valley!

Not what you want to see on France's National Fete Day!

I noticed the small tower of smoke around 9.45am and rang the Pompiers, asked Dave to fetch Anik so that she could try to explain where the fire was in the forest. 

The pompiers arrived about an hour later and fortunately the fire didn't spread....and they put it out.

We now know that the owner of this land is "away with the fairies" and was not supposed to be there alone.....
This is how whole forests disappear with all its wildlife too...😭

13th July 2026.....Fire damage

We had to go to Clermont Hérault....en route we passed through a badly burnt area.

 Very close to Lac Salagou.

Such a tragedy for flora and forna 😭

12th July 2026...Dying trees

After many weeks of temperatures up in the high 30s . No rain since 10th May...the landscape is beginning to change, so many indigenous trees are drooping and dropping leaves..

11th July 2026...Cone head !

This is a type of praying mantis....but it has a cone on its head...hence Conehead..

He had his photo taken on the cats brush for scale.
